Papermovie is a Bulgarian independent non-profit project. Papermovie produces and distributes original stories. The format of the project is an evolved version of the storyboard and a lo-fi version of film :} The stories are told in black-and-white photos with text, and are printed on flyers. All actors are amateurs. The flyers are free. You can collect them if you are at the right place at the right time, before they run out. ̉he flyers are distributed one episode at a time at all kinds of places - clubs, cafes, sports centers, cinemas, shops, tattoo studios, universities, etc. Even prisons, subway stations and beaches. The flyers are finite. They are exhibited nowhere. The flyers do not refer or lead to anything else. They are an end in itself. To find out how the story unfolds and how it ends, you must collect all episodes. That is it. There is no lottery for a color TV. Three stories in limited editions have already been published. The first one was "Three-legged dogs". It was distributed in February 2002 in 8 episodes, each with a circulation of 500 copies. It was followed by "36" - distributed May-July 2002 in 16 episodes, each with a circulation of 3000. The story came with an original soundtrack and a video for the main theme. The third story was "The Apartment". It was distributed in January-February 2004 in 12 episodes, each with a circulation of 2000, plus three half-episodes - 600 copies each, an original soundtrack, a trailer and a poster. The fourth project "Cats", currently in progress, is a sequence of 25 unrelated short stories. Each one is told on a single flyer. The Papermovie idea emerged gardually in the period 2000-2001 as a consequence of a number of refusals to draw and publish "Three-legged dogs" as a comics in a magazine. And thanks to the stubborn persistence to have it done after all. We have no information of similar projects anywhere in Bulgaria or around the world.
